Marshall’s grand opening date is set for mid-November

Marshall’s department store has announced the official opening date for its new location in Caro.

The grand opening date of the department store will be Sunday November 13th. Store manager Courtney Hopkins confirmed the date and said she was excited to join the Caro community.

“We’re so excited to bring something so special to the community,” Hopkins said. “There was a big store there before it didn’t work out, but I think it will definitely do.”

Marshall’s is an American off-price department store chain owned by TJX Companies. Marshall’s has over 1,000 locations across the states. The department store offers a wide variety of items including clothing, shoes, homewares, accessories and more. The building will be located at 1085 E. Caro Road, right next to Dollar Tree and in the same plaza as Walmart.

On opening day, Hopkins expects to receive good business, with a large number of customers. A few local food trucks will be joining the store, including Holy Guacamole, the Caro High School Marching Band, and the Mayor of Caro.

Residents expressed excitement for the store, especially given the distance to the nearest location in Bay City. This is the closest major clothing store to Huron County communities such as Bad Axe, Sebewaing and Ubly making it a much shorter drive.

“I can’t wait for Marshall’s to open, I love this store,” said Caro resident Tina.

“I’m driving to Lapeer so that will be fine,” Geri Ramig Loree said via Facebook.

Leticia Medina, owner of the Holy Guacamole food truck, said she was thrilled to be at the grand opening with the community and was looking forward to it being the day.

“There aren’t many Mexican restaurants in our area, so having them choose us is so awesome and makes me happy,” Medina said. “With the opening of the Marshall, this is how we have a real impact in our community. I am happy that we have been recognized and I am delighted to be here for this great moment.

The store is still under construction, putting the finishing touches on before being handed over to Hopkins and the rest of his Marshall’s team of employees. Hopkins has worked at Marshall for 13 years, and since this is her first time as a store manager after a promotion, she said she’s really looking forward to the opportunity.

“It’s so special,” Hopkins said. “I’m excited for this. It’s something the whole community and I look forward to.

Store hours will be posted later. For more information on the grand opening or the store itself, visit or the Facebook page of the city of Caro.
