A new company hopes to provide consumers with the convenience of shopping online and finding an order dropped off at their doorstep while supporting local businesses.
The Hobart Chamber of Commerce will soon be launching a new website called shoplocalregion.com, an e-commerce portal where people can buy from local merchants in the community.
“This site will serve as a home store, a local store for the area,” said Hobart Chamber of Commerce president Tom Byelick. “Local merchants will be able to sell their goods through this site, followed by delivery to their (customer’s) door. There is no additional charge for items sold, and the retailer charge is no more than $ 20 per month, which is used for uploading new products and images, which is facilitated by the web designer. ”
The goal is to launch the website by October 1, in time for the holiday shopping season.
“Local merchants are often overwhelmed by corporate merchants when it comes to shopping at home,” Byelick said. “This allows them to compete by allowing people to order items directly from the website that are delivered by a delivery driver directly to their homes.”
People can buy online while supporting local businesses, Byelick said. Most items will be delivered the next day.
“You can buy a product at a price you’ll find it in a store,” Byelick said. “It’s super convenient, at no extra cost or extra cost. “
